Hi Evita :)

I couldn't have said it better. I remember that the realization that ideas are uncopyrighted (or I would say "open source"!)was a profound and humbling experience for me. It shook some of my beliefs and made me revisit some others.

Perhaps more and more people are beginning to become aware of this and hence give a new level of meaning to working and sharing ideas.

Thanks again Evita!

Hi Gilbert

This was fascinating to read and a great addition to the fantastic article your wrote for my site.

I am not sure where I heard of this idea for the first time, perhaps it was in the works of Abraham Hicks, that we are all capable of tapping into the huge web of ideas of the Universe.

This explains for example why you have some idea for an invention and then some time later you run across someone who made that exact invention that only you thought you had.

This is also why I now know that if we have a "great" idea, we should act on it. This is the Universe making all these available to us all, but in reality so few of us actually doing anything about them.

So yes, in today's world many people get upset that someone else "stole" their idea - but was it really theirs to begin with?

I think more and more too in the new world, we will move to a case of uncopyrighted material, as we learn to understand that we are all connected to this source and share in its vast potential, with no one owning this or that topic.

Your words really hit home on this when you said "...who claim possession of original ideas are unaware of the fact that we do not ‘possess’ ideas but we attract ideas and get inspired if we are listening and tuned-in to them..."

This was a great read! Thank you.

Hi Annemieke,

Thanks for stopping by. Elizabeth Gilbert's talk is a great one isn't it? Yes exactly...that is the masculine part of the creativity...trying to shake things around and break inside their nature. The yin side is the receptive one but unfortunately the less recognized in our modern western world.

Hi Eduard,

Thanks. Yes true. In a way experiences are the food of consciousness. the richer the experiences, the greater the expansion of our consciousness and hence the more we are able to embrace out totality and connection with the universal web of ideas.

Really great post! And I had watched the video a while back, thinking it was one of the best I have ever seen.

I absolutely agree with the importance of understanding the yin and yang nature of the creative process (as in every process) and I think this is a fantastic definition of the yang part of creativity: "brainstorm and play around with concepts, make unconditional leaps of thought and question the obvious".
